Women have more safe and effective forms of birth control available than ever before. Board Certified Nurse Practitioner Emily Robinette of One Stop Family Clinic, located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, helps women throughout greater Rutherford County choose the contraception that’s best for them.
The pill has been the most popular choice of birth control among women for over 30 years. It also has other benefits, like reducing cramps and menstrual bleeding and assisting with acne control. For some women, however, the pill causes breast tenderness, spotting, and nausea. Another drawback of the pill for some: you must remember to it daily and at the same time each day.
If you are due for your well-woman visit, Emily will do a breast exam and a pelvic exam with Pap test if it is due. If possible, please bring in your most recent Pap testing result and mammogram if applicable. A urine pregnancy test is required. Also, Emily will discuss with you various birth control options to find the one that works best for you and answer any questions you may have. Be sure to mention if you have had any liver problems or blood clots, smoke, or have had any adverse problems with birth control in the past.
